Scars
By: Sara Martino (Email)
About the Book
Scars is designed for people struggling with self-mutilation as well as clinicians who are seeking alternative interventions for their clients. The theme is based on narrative therapy, and will explore how clients can "express" their current life story through alternative means as well as re-appraise their situations and find new coping mechanisms for emotions or pathology. Includes case examples of clients who have gone through group intervention to treat their self-mutilating behaviors, as well as additional resources.

| Translation/Notes |
“Given the expressive difficulties self-harmers often have, art, photography, and music seem especially germane to the therapeutic process. Dr. Martino’s promising research along these lines with high-school and college students supports the use of these techniques.”
