1. Make sure your website uses search engine optimization, or SEO, to its maximum potential. SEO will allow your website to come up higher on the results page in Google. In order to make sure that your website comes up sooner, be sure to use keywords on your website that people will search. For example, if your book is about taking care of dogs, be sure to use words like “dogs, puppies, animal care, animal training book, etc.” on the homepage of your website so that your book will come up when people search these topics.
  2. Create a taskbar that is easy to navigate. When someone visits your website and they want to know something, like how to contact you, make sure that it is easy for them to find any information they might need.
  3. Include links to where they can purchase your book. This may seem like a no-brainer, but many authors forget to embed links to the Apprentice House website and Amazon. When people visit your site, you want to make it easy for them to buy your book.
  4. Keep your website up to date with current photos, reviews of your book, speaking engagements, or anything that may come up that is related to your book.
  5. Include information about the books and your accomplishments, but do not put too much text on the homepage, as it can be overwhelming. Better to keep it short and sweet on the homepage and then have more detailed pages on your website with more information that people may need. For example, do not write out the entire synopsis of the book on the homepage, but include a short blurb. Then, create a separate page on your website for the book that people can use to find more information.
